Udon Thani International School (UDIS) was founded in 2013 by Siriphat Pukpo and Dr. Lindsay Stuart. Having struggled to find quality education in the area, they wanted to create a school for their children which didn’t involve sending them away to boarding school. This has resonated firmly with many other parents in the region who also face the difficult choice of where to school their kindergarten and primary aged children. UDIS hopes to address this gap by bringing quality international education to the people of Udon Thani.
The school uses the National Curriculum of England (NCE) as it offers clear standards of education while it is a well-known curriculum used in many international schools around the world. In addition, inquiry based learning is used to prepare students for the information rich world in which we now live where being able to find, interpret and analyse information has become so important.
For the 2016/2017 academic year we have seven classes open from Preschool (2-3 year olds) to Year 6 (10-11 year olds). The school plans to add a new school level each year until the school has classes from Preschool to Year 7 and accepts students from 2-12 years of age. There are also plans to open a middle school and high school based on demand.
Our Early Years and Lower Primary classes is housed in a purpose built facility that was completed in 2014. The school is currently building a new primary building and covered physical education spaces to house our growth.
The school opened for its first term in September, 2014 with 16 students and has been growing steadily each year, currently numbering 71 students (as of August, 2016).
