About the school

Udon Thani International School (UDIS) was founded in 2013 by Siriphat Pukpo and Dr. Lindsay Stuart. Having struggled to find quality education in the area, they wanted to create a school for their children which didn’t involve sending them away to boarding school. This has resonated firmly with many other parents in the region who also face the difficult choice of where to school their kindergarten, primary and middle school aged children. UDIS has addressed this gap by bringing quality international education to the people of Udon Thani.

The school is an authorised school for the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

The school has been an IB World School authorised to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) since the 2018/2019 academic year. The PYP is an inquiry based programme which is used to prepare students for the information rich world in which we now live, where being able to find, interpret and analyse information has become so important. The school also uses the National Curriculum of England (NCE) for our Early Years programme and also for mathematics, English and science in our Primary Years. The NCE offers clear standards of education while it is a well-known curriculum used in many international schools around the world.

In December, 2019 the school became a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme (MYP). We became fully authorised to offer the MYP in June 2023. Currently we offer Middle Years classes up to Year 11.

In March, 2024, we became fully authorised in the Diploma Programme allowing our Year 12 class in August to be able to enrol in this prestigious programme.

We plan to continue to open a new year level each year until we reach Year 13. Years 12-13 will use the IB’s Diploma Programme which has proven itself to be the best university preparation that school’s can provide both for overseas and Thailand universities.

For the 2023/2024 academic year we have eleven classes open from Preschool (2-3 year olds) to Year 11 (15-16 year olds).

The school has a range of facilities to house our growing school and we have most recently completed our new Primary Years building which includes labs for science and design/art as well as an auditorium.
