Composite classes

For some year levels we offer composite classes. We do this to manage class numbers as we do not have enough students to form a standalone class. If student numbers improve we would look at forming two separate classes. Composite classes offer no educational disadvantages over regular classes with research showing that students achieve at the same rates in composite classes vs stand alone classes. Composite classes do provide a number of advantages thought that include:

  • Older students being able to practice and reinforce skills
  • Younger students can gain help from a wider range of people
  • Classrooms that are more independent and flexible
  • Focuses on what is best for each learner, not just the grade level
