External testing at UDIS

At UDIS we engage in annual testing with our learners’ each year against the English National Curriculum standards for English and Mathematics from Year 2 and upwards. We use the GL Progress Test series for this purpose as these standardised tests help us gauge our learners’ progress against students from the UK and other international schools.

Our school provides a balanced curriculum that does not revolve around testing but provides opportunities for learners’ to shine across many areas of our curriculum. Despite this, our learners’ perform well on the GL tests, especially when factoring in for English ability and tenure at the school. Learners’ who have been with us for more than two years perform close to UK averages.

We use these tests to benchmark the progress of our learners but to also inform our teaching and learning to improve our programmes and to improve the progress of our learners. Results are shared with parents at the end of Term 3 each academic year while school results are shared in our Community Report annually.

At UDIS, our use of the GL Progress Tests help our learners’ thrive within our school as they work to become internationally-minded, balanced learners who become active global citizens within their communities.
